Kings XI Punjab vs Deccan Chargers 51st IPL 2010 Match at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharmasala
On Apr 16th, 2010 20:00 IST | 14:30 GMT Onwards

Two teams on a comeback trail face each other, as IPL action shifts to the cooler terrains of Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. Kings XI Punjab are probably going through their best phase in the tournament having won three of their last five games and will look to improve their points tally. The Chargers, meanwhile, are eyeing a place in the last four and a win in Friday’s game is imperative to keep that plan in place.
Though the Chargers are at par with four other teams, their negative run-rate continues to be the biggest stumbling block. In fact, even after losing on Wednesday, Rajasthan Royals stands ahead of them in net run rate. For the Adam Gilchrist-led side to reach the final four, it is important that not only they win, but also win big so as to overcome the mathematial equations that can otherwise dash their chances.
Punjab, on the other hand, will play with much more freedom. They have everything to gain and nothing to lose and their confidence will be sky high considering they come into the game having beaten the two best sides of the IPL – Mumbai and Delhi. The Punjab batting, especially skipper Kumar Sangakkara and his Sri Lankan mate Mahela Jayawardene have started to look good and with their bowling also picking up form, this is one side most teams in the fray for a semi-final birth would be looking to avoid.
Deccan have also come back well after a series of mid-tournament losses that they suffered after making a decent start in the third edition of the IPL. Local lads T Suman, Rohit Sharma and Harmeet Singh have started to look good and with Andrew Symonds also getting into his elements off late, the Chargers look a very confident lot. Unlike the Royals, who have only a game left to finish their league stage engagements, the Chargers are to play two and a win in both will bolster their chances of making it to the semis.
